Complex Molecular Systems graduate program

PhD course Molecular Machines

January 2011 the PhD course on Molecular Machines has started. This course, which elaborates on macroscopic functionality by molecular processes, is organized by ICMS and takes place January untill April 2011. First and second year PhD students from several TU/e departments are trained in the area of functional systems and supramolecular chemistry. They are guided by senior scientists in writing of research proposals and will meet international top scientists at the final meeting.

Topics that are elaborated by the participants in their research proposals:
1) Molecular motors based on kinesin and microtubules
2) Gradients in chemistry and biology
3) Making molecular machines work
4) Rachets – Maxwell’s demon
5) Phototropism and its property to do work
6) Chembots and chemical sensors and actuators
