Institute for Complex Molecular Systems

New building for ICMS

ICMS is located in the TU/e Main Building since summer 2008. We have several offices and a meeting room available. However, the strong growth of the organization and the need for state-of-the-art experimental facilities can only be realized in dedicated housing.
The CERES building (Centraal Energie en Regel Station, former TU/e boiler house) will be renovated to offer a home to ICMS. This project is part of the Campus 2020 master plan.
The building will facilitate several of the key objectives of ICMS: a place in which scientists from various fields but with similar interests can meet and interact, laboratories and offices, and a home for the Graduate Program Complex Molecular Systems. An Advanced Study Center (ASC) will be established to encourage discussion in workshops for and by the entire TU/e community.

Planning
Specialized companies have begun dismantling and removing the existing boilers and old installations as well as the asbestos this winter. We expect to be ready with this work by February 2011 and to start building the accommodation from March 2011 on. The moving to our new building is planned to take place before the end of 2011.
