Biography
Björne Mollet MSc (1985) studied Biomedical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology, where she obtained her degree in 2010. The master’s program of her study included an international research internship in summer 2008. She worked on the development of single chain supramolecular polymer nanoparticles in the group of prof. Craig Hawker at the Materials Research Laboratory of the University of California. During a second research internship at Fujifilm Tilburg - Life Science in 2009 she developed recombinant gelatin scaffolds with controlled porosity and interconnectivity for tissue engineering. Björne’s master program was completed with a research project on the development of a bioartificial living renal basement membrane mimic in the group of prof. Bert Meijer under supervision of dr. Patricia Dankers at the Eindhoven University of Technology. In January 2010 she continued to work on this project as a PhD student. Her research focuses on control over the behavior of human renal epithelial cells when grown in vitro, in particular via extracellular matrix mimicking scaffolds based on bioactivated supramolecular polymers.
