Our mission
The mission of Mathematics for Industrial Innovation (MII) is to act as an interface between industry and the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The need for such an interface is twofold. For industry it is essential to innovate in a competitive world. Applying state-of-the-art mathematical knowledge may yield important savings (e.g., by replacing or enhancing physical experiments by simulations with mathematical models) or major improvements (e.g., by significantly speeding up algorithms). On the other hand, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science feels that industrial contacts are essential for maintaining high levels in both mathematical research and mathematical education.
What do we offer
Since MII represents the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, it has access to a wide range of mathematical expertise including scientific computing, statistics, operations research, and coding theory. We offer tailor-made collaboration with industrial partners where according to the specific needs we create project teams with members that may range from student to full professor. The Design program Mathematics for Industry which offers a two-year broad postgraduate education aimed at mathematics-oriented positions in industry is part of MII. Courses are also offered in collaboration with the Continuing Engineering Education Eindhoven.
Partners
MII also closely collaborates with the Laboratory for Quality Software (LaQuSo) and the Innovation Lab, the central innovation organisation within the university.
