Special Master's track Fluid and Solid Mechanics

Special Master's track Fluid and Solid Mechanics

Students of MSc Fluid and Solid Mechanics

In this special Master's track Fluid and Solid Mechanics you learn to describe, analyze and optimize the static and dynamic mechanical behavior of products, processes and systems. For this purpose the track covers aspects of fluid and solid mechanics, modeling, analytical, numerical and experimental methods, and optimization. The applications range from systems at nano, micro and millimeter scale through large-scale industrial processes to environmental issues. Graduates will be able to play a significant role in design and project teams working on a broad range of industrial applications. In Holland, in Europe or worldwide.

Special Master's Track

Fluid and Solid Mechanics is a special MSc program which is formally part of the master Mechanical Engineering.

A fundamental core of mechanical engineering and more

The mechanics of fluids and solids play a vital role in competitive engineering of advanced products, processes and systems. The principles and balance equations derived from fluid and solid mechanics yield a description of the behavior of the materials within the products, processes and systems concerned. This can subsequently provide the basis for analysis and optimization, and as a result also for design. Fluid and solid mechanics form a very important, fundamental core of engineering sciences such as mechanical engineering, applied mathematics and physics, as well as chemical engineering. The advent of modern computers has created totally new challenges and perspectives for the discipline of fluid and solid mechanics.

NVAO accreditation

This special Master’s track is formally a track of the Master Mechanical Engineering. The MSc program Mechanical Engineering is accredited by NVAO (Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie), the Accreditation Organization of Holland and Flanders.
