ILI wants to effectively involve the public in the development of new lighting solutions. That is the only way to ensure that these will then also be accepted. The institute therefore validates all of its concepts in realistic testing environments, called testbeds. Eventually, all of the thematic programs will possess testbed facilities. These can range from controllable laboratory environments to uncontrollable real-life settings, such as neighborhoods, medical centers, and other public spaces. These testbeds constitute a unique and valuable asset for the institute.
