As part of the TU/e Research Day, which takes place on 13 June 2024, TU/e is organizing ‘Talking Science’ - the science pitching competition for TU/e PhD and EngD researchers on Tuesday 11 June 2024.
The aim of the competition is to offer a platform to PhD and EngD researchers to inspire and stimulate a large audience about their research, and to present this research in an understandable and engaging manner in the process. 10 participants will take part in the ‘pitching battle’, with the 1st prize winner going on to present their pitch at the Research Day ceremony on 13 June 2024.
Jury winners: 1st prize € 750,=, 2nd prize € 500,=.
Public winner (picked by the audience in attendance): € 500,=
Are you a young TU/e PhD of EngD researcher that wants to share your research with a large audience? Then sign up for ‘Talking Science’ on Tuesday 11 June 2024 by sending an e-mail to cec.evenementen@tue.nl. If you wish, you can also send a short motivation video to cec.evenementen@tue.nl but this is not required. The video should not be longer than one minute in length! In your pitch video, you can briefly tell us about your research, share a fun fact about yourself, and tell us why you want to be part of ‘Talking Science’. No slides are allowed in your pitch video.
If you are selected to take part in ‘Talking Science’, you may only speak about your own research. Your pitch should last no longer than three minutes. If you elect to use a prop, then it must be a prop that you can carry onto stage yourself, and you must deliver your pitch in English.

Preliminary round:
You can sign up for this event by sending an e-mail (optionally with your pitch/motivation video) to cec.evenementen@tue.nl. The closing date for registration is 3 May 2024, 12.00 hrs.
Pitch training:
All candidates will be offered a professional pitch training by Barry Fitzgerald as part of their preparation for the pitch competition ‘Talking Science’. This training will take place on Tuesday 14 May 2024 from 18.00 hrs. till 22.00 hrs. So, please make a note of this in your agenda!
Talking Science:
The event will take place Tuesday 11 June 2024, from 19.00 hrs. till 22.00 hrs. in the Blauwe zaal Auditorium.
