Bachelor Industrial Design

Why selection?

TU/e is known for our small-scale, personal approach. To maintain this approach and the high quality of our programs, we need to ensure that the right students enroll in our most popular bachelor’s degree programs. For this reason, we appeal to you as a prospective student to give your choice of program a lot of thought. In addition, if there are more applications than we can accommodate, we will select those students who best match our selection profile.

Selection for 2019-2020 enrollment

A selection procedure is in place for the  Industrial Design bachelor’s degree program. The maximum number of students that can enroll in this program in the academic year 2019-2020 is 180.

This is a high limit! So do not get discouraged. Give the selection procedure your best shot.

Selection procedure

The selection procedure for Industrial Design has the following criteria:

  • Your average grade of your pre-exam high school year (50%)
  • Your participation in all selection activities (50%)
    • Timely completion of the two online questionnaires (a TU/e and an Industrial Design questionnaire)
    • Participation in one of the selection days:
      • Presentation of the homework assignment (20%)
      • Individual conversation (10%)
    • Timely submission of the reflection assignment (20%)

Make sure that you meet these criteria, for instance by sending in the required documents in time. Otherwise, you may run the risk of being excluded from enrollment, which would be a pity. No later than February 11, you will receive an invitation by e-mail to complete the two online questionnaires and apply for one of the selection days.

Selection days 7 March and 8 March 2019

The selection days for Industrial Design will take place on Thursday 7 March and Friday 8 March 2019. If these days do not offer enough capacity for the applications, there will be an extra selection day on Monday 11 March.

If you want to start the Industrial Design program in September 2019, you are required to take part in the selection day.
If you do not live in the Netherlands and you cannot come to a selection day, you have to ask for approval via no later than 15 February 2019. No other exceptions are possible.

You will receive the homework assignment in your e-mail two weeks before the selection day. The deadline for the assignment is one week after the selection day. You will receive the reflection assignment three business days before your selection day.

After the selection

If you receive a ranking number of 180 or lower, you are directly granted admission to the Industrial Design bachelor’s degree program. Confirm your enrollment within two weeks by completing your registration in Studielink. If you do not to this, your place will go to the next person on the ranking list. If you received a ranking number higher than the maximum number, this means that within the next few weeks, you may still be offered a spot. Keep an eye on Studielink and your email.

Students with a previous education outside the Netherlands should submit a complete application via Studielink and Osiris portal before 15 January 2019, and send the required hard copy documents via post to be received by TU/e no later than 15 January 2019.

Preferably apply this year, so we can inform you in time if your registration is not correct or complete.
