Bachelor Industrial Engineering

Selection

Why selection?

TU/e is known for our small-scale, personal approach. To maintain this approach and the high quality of our programs, we need to ensure that the right students enroll in our most popular bachelor’s degree programs. For this reason, we appeal to you as a prospective student to give your choice of program a lot of thought. In addition, if there are more applications than we can accommodate, we will select those students who best match our selection profile.

Selection for 2019-2020 enrollment

A selection procedure is in place for the Industrial Engineering bachelor’s degree program. The maximum number of students that can enroll in this program in the academic year 2109-2020 is  275.

This is a high limit! Above all, last year we were able to grant admission to all candidates who were interested in the program. So do not get discouraged and participate in the selection procedure!  View last year's figures

Selection procedure

The selection procedure has the following criteria.

  • Your participation in all activities of the selection day:
    • Timely completion of the online questionnaire about capacities and motivation
    • Participation in the College of Mathematics
    • Participation in the individual Industrial Engineering case study
    • Participation in the group exercise
  • Your average vwo-5 grades, or equivalent for students with a previous education outside the Netherlands (GPA year before graduation) (2/3)
  • Your score on the individual Industrial Engineering case (1/3)

Make sure that you meet these criteria, for instance by sending in the required documents in time. Otherwise, you may run the risk of being excluded from enrollment, which would be a pity.

In case of an equal ranking based on the selection criteria, the average vwo-5 grade is decisive for your place on the ranking.

Selection day 23 February 2019

If you want to start the Industrial Engineering program in September 2019, you are required to take part in the selection day. No exceptions are possible.

During the selection day you will follow the program together with other applicants of the course. You will receive homework by e-mail about 2 weeks before the selection day. Study this homework carefully, because you need it to make the individual case. In addition, you will receive an online questionnaire in the week after the selection day. Fill in this online questionnaire in time, because this is one of the criteria of our selection.

After selection

If you receive a ranking number of 275 or lower, you are directly granted admission to the Industrial Engineering bachelor’s degree program. Confirm your enrollment within two weeks by completing your registration in Studielink. If you do not to this, your place will go to the next person on the ranking list. If you received a ranking number higher than the maximum number, this means that within the next few weeks, you may still be offered a spot. Keep an eye on Studielink and your email. Chances are very high that you will eventually be granted admission, partly because some candidates apply for several programs. Please note that your ranking number does not directly give an indication of your future performance in the program later on. It only indicates your relative score compared to the other candidates and these scores can be very close to eachother.

Students with a previous education outside the Netherlands should submit a complete application via Studielink and Osiris portal before 15 January 2019, and send the required hard copy documents via post to be received by TU/e no later than 15 January 2019.

Preferably apply this year, so we can inform you in time if your registration is not correct or complete.
