In chemical biology, a biomedical subject is central, which is investigated using a chemistry-based approach. This means that new molecules are made, such as medicine-like compounds and modified proteins. These are then used to study the underlying biology. In this way, new approaches are developed for medicines, diagnostics and biomaterials.
