Medical Image Analysis

Medical Imaging Devices, such as an MRI, make three-dimensional recordings of inside the human body. The resulting images contain much information, millions of pixels. The field of Medical Image Analysis focusses on the design of methods to automatically distil the essential information from the images. This information can support doctors in making a diagnosis and determining the best course of therapy. Various examples of medical image analysis shall be explained.
