Extra support during your studies

You may need extra support during your studies. For example, due to a disability, chronic illness or mental health issues. If you have to deal with this, we can help you to successfully complete your studies. For example, by giving you extra time to take an exam or by allowing you to use a laptop with voice software. We also offer all kinds of training courses, for example in planning and organizing your studies or dealing with stress and fear of failure. Furthermore, it is possible to agree on an adjusted study planning and to get an exception for the binding study recommendation.

What do you need to arrange?

It takes time to arrange the right facilities. So contact us on time.

  • When registering in Studielink, indicate that you need extra support.
  • If you want to apply for the standard examination extension (10 minutes extension per hour), for example because of dyslexia, you can upload an expert's report via the digital registration form that you will receive from us in July. We will then make sure that your examination extension is arranged before the start of the academic year.
  • Do you need other facilities, such as a laptop with voice software, or would you like to know what guidance we can offer? Please contact our student counsellors at studentcounselors@tue.nl at least 3 months before the start of the academic year.

More information

We'd be happy to give you more information. You can send an e-mail to studentcounselors@tue.nl or make an appointment online with a student counselor. If you have any questions, you can also contact the academic advisor of the department where you are studying or will be studying. Of course, the content of the interviews will always be treated confidentially.
In this brochure from ECIO (only available in Dutch), you can read about how to choose a study that suits you and about possible adjustments to your studies and extra study time. More information can also be found on www.hogeronderwijstoegankelijk.nl.
