“People who get radiation therapy may later develop heart valve problems. I’m studying the relationship between the two with an innovative 3D hydrogel heart valve model, populated with pig heart valve cells. This is almost fundamental research, but it still has clear links to the real world - a real disease, with real patients. TU/e is small and compact, with a lot of personal contact and many opportunities to develop your professional skills by working, joining student committees or serving on a board. The city of Eindhoven has everything you need. In the future, I might do a PhD or decide to work in industry. I know that if I keep doing what I like during my studies, I will find a job to match.
