"Would cereal or toast with jam be better for breakfast? And how do your choices throughout your day affect your blood sugar level? These are important questions for diabetics. Serious games are a great way to learn complex decision-making skills. In SugarVita, the game I designed, you win if you keep your blood sugar level in the green zone and avoid the hospital. Since the type of game has to match the audience, I designed SugarVita as a digital board game on a tablet. New diabetics are usually in their fifties and like the social aspect of games, to share experiences. I really took pride in perfecting SugarVita’s user experience.
The PDEng definitely helped prepare me for my current career. I gained expertise in human behaviour and digital product design, became more independent and discovered I like coordinating events."
