In the current age, data is available on almost anything. Also in our cities, large scale data platforms are becoming available. With this abundance of data also come several problems, one of which is the fact that this data is mostly available on separate data islands. Each data provider has its own little data islands, which results in a sea of unlinked, data. In order to realize the potential of buzzwords like ‘Big Data’ and ‘Internet of Things’, these islands should be connected.

My project will use new data technologies to create the bridges between these islands and gain new and improved insight into the energy use of Eindhoven. Improved knowledge on our city will allow stakeholders to improve their decision making when it comes to sustainability measures.

I hope this project will help me become a better engineer and make our city a better place to live.
