"For a modeling week, my group worked with an electron microscopy company to correct image distortion. Our team investigated Fourier analysis, discrete modeling solutions and even basic image improvement algorithms, and brought it all together into a single solution. The project was very interesting, both mathematically and strategically. What do we have time for? What makes the biggest impact? That's the difference between theory, where you look at the perfect solution, and application.

A great benefit of TU/e is the many big, interesting companies in the region, to draw on during your studies. I also like the social life in Eindhoven - study associations help with useful things like personal and career development, and there's also a lot of opportunity to have fun. For my later career, I'd like to work in stochastics or statistics, with a focus on application."
