Diana Ahogado Alvarez obtained her B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from “Pontificia Universidad Javeriana” in 2003, and a specialization degree in Software Construction from “Universidad de los Andes”in 2005, in Bogotá, Colombia. From 2003 to 2007 worked as software engineer at Electronic Data Systems and Rosen Inspection Technologies in Bogotá. In August 2007 she came to the Netherlands and started a M.Sc. in Business Information Systems in Eindhoven University of Technology, from where received her degree in September 2009. The title of her thesis is “Setting up a quality database for analysis of Software Process Development Information”, which is aimed at describing a method to improve the quality of data, in databases employed to store information about the software development process implemented in a software project.
Sergey Andreev graduated from the St-Petersburg State University, the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics in 2008. He received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science. He carried out his final thesis on the topic of “Analysis and research of Train-like algorithms of garbage collection and their application in real time systems” and implemented his own GC prototype of the same type for the Apache Harmony VM. He has been working in the DataArt Inc. since 2006 and was involved in design and implementation of enterprise applications. Last year he has been working in the Exigen Services as a senior java developer. His research interest includes distributed computing, web applications architecture, and functional programming.
Ashenafi Tesfay (Ashu) Gebreweld received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from Mekelle Institute of Technology, Ethiopia in 2007. After working as a graduate assistant for one year in Ethiopia, he started his M.Sc. in Embedded Systems at Eindhoven University of Technology. The title of his master thesis was “Resource modeling of software components in the OSAS framework”. The goal of the project was to design and build resource analysis tools for wireless sensor network applications.
Fanis Grollios received his Diploma of Engineering from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2009. During his studies he specialized in Software Technology, Databases and Networking. His final thesis was on the field of Semantic Technologies and is titled “An Engine for Connecting Relational Databases with Ontologies”. It involved the design and development of an original tool to automate the transformation of information stored in databases to semantic web structures. After graduation he continued working on this project which led to the publication of a software tool called “RDOTE” which is a domain semantics-driven mapping generation tool.
Francisco Javier Heredia Soriano received his BSc in Electronics and Communications Engineering (2007) and an MSc degree in Digital Systems (2009) from the Tec de Monterrey in Mexico City. His thesis project is entitled "Design and Implementation of a Wireless Sensor Network for Telemedicine". His interests include embedded systems, real-time constraints, and distributed computing.
Ivana Kostadinovska received her Computer Science Engineer's degree from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Skopje, Macedonia, in November 2009 . Her final thesis project entitled "Feature selection for TV recommenders" was carried out in Philips Research and resulted in a publication. During the last three semesters of her studies she held faculty courses as a teaching assistant at the Institute of Informatics. After her graduation she worked for seven months as a software engineer for a Swiss company speciallized for tailor-made software.
Roshan Kotian received his BSc Degree in Computer Science from Mangalore University, India in 2004. In November 2007 he received his Masters of Computer Application degree from Manipal Institute of Technology, India. After his studies, he worked as an Associate Software Engineer with Collabera Solutions Pvt Ltd for 2 years. During this tenure he worked in J2EE domain. He also has a teaching experience of 1.2 years in Discrete Mathematics, and Design Patterns. He was also associated with the Philips BOP initiative, India as a part time coordinator for six months.
Tanya Kudchadker obtained her Bachelor in Engineering(B.E.) degree in Information Technology from Goa University, India in 2006. After her undergraduate studies she worked as a Software Engineer with Wipro Technologies, Bangalore for a period of two years in Java/J2EE technologies. She was a part of the dual degree master program by TU/e and received her MSc in Computer Science and Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology(TU/e) and MTech in Software Engineering from Manipal University in September, 2010. Her master thesis was carried out at Capgemini Consulting, Utrecht, The Netherlands which focused on Software Architecture and Design for outsourcing.
Bogdan Mihai Lazar graduated from the "Politehnica" University of Bucharest, Faculty of Automatic Control and Computer Science in 2008. During the Faculty he worked at ITC Networks (known for its collaboration with Nortel) as an embedded programmer. He has 3+ years of industrial experience in C/C++ embedded related projects. His interests include embedded systems, distributed computing, and networks.
Alexandros Loizidis received his BSc in Computer Science (2008) and an MSc degree in Informational Systems (2010) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.TH.). In his BSc thesis project he applied static analysis to the java card code of a multi-applet smart card application. In his master thesis he studied conformance techniques for integration testing of components using the model of the specification. His research interest includes testing methodologies, web technologies, and embedded systems.
Zlatka Manevska graduated at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje in 2009 in the domain Software Engineering and obtained the title Engineer of Informatics, BSc. Her thesis was named “Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0” and was focused on integrating a web application and the CRM system itself with additional focus on security on the database level.
From 2007 to 2010 she worked as a C# developer at Seavus, a software company in Skopje, Macedonia, mainly focusing her work on web applications, CRM and CMS. Her interests include web applications, web trends, cryptography, and computer security.
Tudor Mihordea graduated from the "Politehnica" University of Bucharest, Faculty of Automatic Control and Computer Science in 2008. During his studies he worked as a JAVA programmer developing applications for mobile phones. His final project was developed at Testing Technologies IST GmbH in cooperation with Fraunhofer FOKUS Institute from Berlin. The project’s goal was to create automatic test cases for BPEL processes using TTCN-3. After graduation he worked as JAVA EE programmer at Kepler-Rominfo SA Bucharest.
Xuan Huy Nguyen obtained his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science at the faculty of Humanities and Sciences of Maastricht University, in 2009. His master thesis, which is titled “Iris Extraction in Low Contrast Images”, presents a new, reliable, and accurate pupil and iris localization approach dealing with complex situations (reflections, eyelid overlapping and eyelash on eye images) based on features of the human eye. Following his graduation, he worked for a Telecom company located in Zaltbommel as a software analyst.
Chidiebere Okwudire obtained his B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2008 from Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. He proceeded to Eindhoven University of Technology where he received his M.Sc. in Embedded Systems (cum laude) in 2010. His thesis project entitled “Modeling variability in a simulated printer for improved robustness testing of embedded control software,” was carried out at Océ-Technologies, Venlo, The Netherlands. During his master’s studies, he also participated in the “honor-in-the-master” track which resulted in three publications
Martin Palatnik Minguell received his Computer Engineer (MSc) degree in January 2010 from the Catholic University of Uruguay. His thesis was conducted in the Business Process Management field and is entitled “Assigning Work Items more efficiently by detecting participants’ busyness and predicting workload using Business Intelligence tools”. The thesis work was later published as an article in the 2010 BPM and Workflow Handbook. As a part of his Engineering degree he took a semester in the University of Leeds where he later performed an internship in the Computer Vision group. He also worked as a Software Engineer in the development of a lending system for the main consumer lending company of Uruguay.
Dimitris Theodorou received his Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras, Greece in 2009. During his studies he specialized in Computer Science and Software Technology, developing interests in areas such as algorithm analysis, mathematical logic and game theory. His diploma thesis "Extension of e-voting system to combat malicious attacks" has been performed in the Greek research institute RACTI, and involved designing and implementing software to enhance security features of the system.
Jonatan Ward received his MSc. in Electronic Engineering with a specialization in control theory in July 2008 from the "Instituto Tecnológico Buenos Aires" (ITBA), Argentina. His final thesis work at ITBA was the integral design and implementation of a networked media player, based around a client-server model and UPNP. This complemented his university work in the image processing and embedded system fields during the prior years. Since 2007, he has been working for Apexar Technologies and has been involved in the design, implementation and testing, of both hardware and software, of high-complexity medical equipment.
Xu Zhang received his post master degree in Artificial Intelligence in 2009 from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and his master degree in Computer Application in 2005 from Shenyang University of Technology . He has been working in the ILPS group of Universiteit van Amsterdam as a Scientific Programmer between 2007 and 2010 in the field of web crawling, text mining and web service. He also worked as Scientific programmer in the LIIR group of Katholieke Universiteit Leuven from from 2006 to 2007 in the field of information retrieval.
