Final Bachelor Project

You will end your Bachelor’s program with an internship in a research group: the Bachelor Final Project. During this project, you will be a ‘junior employee’, and you will do contribute to ongoing research that is being carried out in one of the groups. A worthy conclusion of your Bachelor’s program!

BEP 10 ECTS

The aim of the 10 ECTS Bachelor Final Project (Bachelor eindproject – BEP) is to familiarize the students with and train them in the practice of scientific research. The BEP takes place in a research group of the Applied Physics department. Under the supervision of an academic staff member, the student carries out an original research project. The Bachelor Final Project (BEP) consists of 10 ECTS (280 hours).

The specific learning outcomes are:

  • To conduct scientific research;
  • To critically analyze the results of the research at scientific level;
  • To select and make use of relevant literature in the research;
  • To distillate information from the  research literature and translate it into a research question;
  • To write a scientific report;
  • To present orally the research results;
  •  To plan the research (and to adjust the planning if needed).

BEP 15 ECTS

The 15 ECTS Bachelor Final Project (Bachelor eindproject – BEP) has an in-depth research character and aims to develop the scientific creativity and originality of the students by actively engaging them in designing, setting up and conducting new scientific research. The 15 ECTS BEP is implemented in a research group of the Applied Physics department. Under the supervision of an academic staff member, the student carries out an original research project. The Bachelor Final Project (BEP) consists of 15 ECTS (420 hours).

The specific learning outcomes are:

  • To conduct scientific research;
  • To critically analyze the results of the research at scientific level;
  • To formulate questions arising from preliminary research which can be used for follow-up research;
  • To critically analyze the results of the research at scientific level;
  • To select and make use of relevant literature in the research;
  • To distillate information from the  research literature and translate it into a research question;
  • To deepen the approach taken for the research project and to deepen the analysis of complex problems;
  • To write a scientific report;
  • The present orally the research results;
  • To plan the research (and to adjust the planning if needed); The development an independent attitude in conducting scientific research.
