"Straight after graduating I worked as an spatial development advisor for two successive consultancies. After seven years of consultancy I made the move to the Province of Limburg; I’ve been working here for two years now. I am a planner for the region and I am responsible for the provincial assessment of the spatial plans of a number of municipalities in South Limburg. The Province of Limburg is striving to reduce its rules, and this has the effect in practice of increasing the amount of consultation required with municipalities and other initiators to arrive at a good spatial plan. While this makes the job harder, it also makes it more challenging.

Every day I’m learning in lots of areas. With this course I had a really strong basis for getting jobs that right from the get-go I found enjoyable and instructive. Jobs that were clearly a natural extension of the course and in which, as a new graduate, I was given opportunities. This ensured that as I continued working I continued to learn and it’s meant that now I have a job that’s just perfect for me. I notice that I still aim to acquire a broad knowledge of relevant matters; I think the broad scope of the course triggered this good habit in me. I take this approach so that I can be a good discussion partner for the municipalities and initiators with whom I have meetings.
