Today’s daily life would not be possible without electrical engineering. It solves challenges in every aspect of our daily lives from energy supply and communications to health care and the environment. The department of Electrical Engineering at TU/e tackles these challenges through nine research groups, each with its own specific knowledge and research focus. The research within Electrical Engineering is more broadly categorized within three core themes:

  • The Connected World: the future of communication
  • Care and Cure: electrical engineering in healthcare
  • Smart & Sustainable Society: handling energy in a sustainable way

Master of Electrical Engineering

In the Master’s program of Electrical Engineering, you will do innovative research and design, analyze and realize smart and novel electrical components and systems. You will be actively involved in the department’s own research program and cooperate with other R&D departments in industry, through internships and a final graduation project.

The TU/e Master’s program of Electrical Engineering offers state-of-the-art education together with strong links with industry. Many of our part-time professors also hold positions in leading companies, helping to ensure our research and teaching remains relevant. Electrical engineering never stops and as a graduate of this Master’s program, you can enter an innovative and managerial career.

In addition to the regular Master’s program in Electrical Engineering, we also offer two special Master’s tracks:

The EIT InnoEnergy Master’s in Smart Electrical Networks and Systems (SENSE)  also forms part of the Master’s in Electrical Engineering. This specialization focuses on designing, implementing and managing smart grids.  Students following this program study their first year in Sweden and their second year at TU/e. As a result, they gain a double degree in the relevant Master’s program from each university.

EIT Label
The EIT Label is a quality seal awarded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to a KIC educational programme that has been assessed positively by the EIT on the implementation of the EIT Quality Assurance and Learning Enhancement (EIT QALE) system and the application of specific quality criteria with focus on the EIT Overarching Learning Outcomes (EIT OLOs), robust entrepreneurship education, highly integrated, innovative ‘learning‐by‐doing’ curricula, international mobility and outreach.
