Photonics graduate program

The Graduate Program for Photonics is intended for students who pursue a Master programme that prepares for and is coherent with a subsequent PhD project that is carried out in the COBRA Research Institute Students can enrol at the master level through the master Applied Physics (AP) or Electrical Engineering (EE), and as such obtain all qualifications, competences and recognitions of these Masters. In addition, they obtain a proven record of working in the cross-disciplinary area of EE and AP. It is also possible to enrol directly at the PhD level.

To prepare for an informed decision for a subsequent PhD project in one of the Photonics groups, the student will, during the Master phase, acquire a broad view of the scope of the Research in Photonics at the COBRA Research Institute. Students obtain maximum influence on their PhD project, which may include the writing of their own research proposal.

The Graduate Program for Photonics has received an incentive grant in 2013 by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO), for additional funding of four PhD positions for excellent candidates who can propose their own research proposal independent of other funding resources
