Almost the whole world around us is built up of polymers.

BSc Altug Altay, student

After my Bachelor I was a process engineer. But I still wanted to study more and broaden my outlook further. I chose Polymers and Composites because it’s an upcoming field in the scientific world.

The good thing about a university of technology like TU/e is that there are always links to industry and companies in the region. That appeals to me because my own field has clear links with everyday life. Although most people aren’t aware of it, almost the whole world around us is built up of polymers. Our skin, our hair, our TVs and PCs, our clothes, our food: they’re all polymeric materials. In other words: if you design polymers, you’re really designing everyday life. That’s a great feeling, isn’t it?!
