Program admission for Bachelor's degree holders

A number of Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees are eligible for entry into the Biomedical Engineering Master's degree program or the Medical Engineering Master's degree program.

The ideal preparation for our Master's programs is the Bachelor's program Biomedical Engineering at the TU/e. If you have a non-Dutch Bachelor’s degree, check here for the TU/e procedure.

Admission with a different Bachelor's degree is only possible after individual assessment by the department, looking at your foreknowledge and specialization in the to-be-followed Master's program. If a pre-master is necessary before admission, an individual program will be designed.

To be admitted with Dutch Bachelor's degrees (from a Dutch university), you will have to take the following steps:

  1. Intake interview
To be admitted to our Master's programs you'll need to have a degree in a relevant Bachelor of Science. To find out whether your degree fulfills the requirements of the Master's program of your choice, you have to attend an individual intake interview. During this interview we will check any deficiencies, your motivations, your wishes, and we will discuss the practicalities regarding registration, your program and a possible pre-master.
To register for an intake interview send an e-mail to BME_graduateprogam.LSE[at]

  2. Contact graduation professor
When you defined the specialization of your choice, you have to get in contact with the relevant graduation professor. When the professor decides that you could be admitted in the Master, you will together prepare a proposal for admission. If your Bachelor's program appears to be very distantly related to the specialization of your choice, you might have to follow an additional pre-master before entering the Master's program. The proposal for admission (including a possible pre-master) will be discussed in the Departmental Admissions Board, who will decide on your admission.

  3. Departmental Admission Board
When the Departmental Admission Board has approved your individual program you can start the Master's degree program. When the Departmental Admission Board agrees with a proposed pre-master, then you can register for the pre-master. When the pre-master is completed, you can register for the Master's program Biomedical Engineering or Medical Engineering.

Limited capacity Master Medical Engineering
Note: there is a limited capacity for clinical modules and graduation projects in the Master's program Medical Engineering. Only after an interview with a professor, you are guaranteed of being admitted to this Master. Therefore, sign up in time for an intake interview.
