Management team

professor dr. Johan Lukkien (scientific director) chairs the System Architecture and Networking Research group at Eindhoven University of Technology since 2002. He received M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Groningen University in the Netherlands. In 1991 he joined Eindhoven University after a two years leave at the California Institute of Technology. His research interests include the design and performance analysis of parallel and distributed systems. Until 2000 he was involved in large-scale simulations in physics and chemistry. Since 2000, his research focus has shifted to the application domain of networked resource-constrained embedded systems. Contributions of the SAN group are in the area of component-based middleware for resource-constrained devices, distributed coordination, Quality of Service in networked systems and schedulability analysis in real-time systems. He has been involved with the Software Technology PDEng degree program for many years, first as a facilitator for various courses and as a supervisor of final projects, and now as scientific director.

dr. Ad Aerts (program director) graduated from the University of Nijmegen in 1979 on a Ph.D. thesis in Elementary Particle Physics. He then went to the United States for postdoctoral positions at the National Laboratories of Los Alamos (1979 -1981) and Brookhaven (1981-1983). In 1983 he returned to Europe for a position as Senior Fellow in the Theoretical Physics Group at CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland. In 1985, he returned to the Netherlands to take up a position as assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Eindhoven University of Technology. His research and teaching there were in the area of modeling and design of (adaptive) information systems, system integration, and database and web technology. He regularly spends some time at CERN with the CMS computing group as team leader of the Eindhoven-CERN collaboration. In March 2008, he joined the Software Technology PDEng degree program as program director. Ad will retire in June 2018 and Yanja Dajsuren will gradually take over all of his tasks, but for now he remains responsible for ST C2015 generation.

dr. Yanja Dajsuren PDEng (program director) received her PhD degree in Computer Science from the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in 2015. Her PhD research covered the automotive system/software architecture and software quality and was conducted in collaboration with DAF Trucks NV and other academic/industrial partners. Since 2015, she was employed as a researcher at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her research interests include software architecture description mechanisms (architecture frameworks, architecture description languages), component-based software engineering, model-based software engineering, and software quality. Prior to her academic career, she worked for 5 years as a senior researcher in the software design and architecture for the consumer electronics domain at Philips Research, NXP Semiconductors, and Virage Logic. She obtained her BSc in Computer Science in 2000 at the National University of Mongolia (NUM) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, where she also worked as a software developer and lecturer. Dr. Dajsuren also holds an MBA degree from the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands and a PDEng degree in Software Technology from the TU/e.

Désirée van Oorschot (management assistant) can be characterized as enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated. She has been working at Philips in various departments and positions from 1990 – 2010 and later on in smaller companies in Eindhoven. Please check out her LinkedIn account for further details. Désirée joined the PDEng Software Technology program per July 2015 replacing Maggy de Wert for the time being, but nowadays on a permanent basis. Maggy has decided to pursue other career opportunities. Désirée's current position is a great mix of the fun and interesting aspects from former jobs. Contributing to the education and development of people in an international environment is what attracts her the most.
