Igor Anastasov received his Bachelor Diploma in Informatics and Computer Engineering (2011) and Master Degree (2014) in Software Engineering from the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Macedonia. In his Master Thesis called “SIEM implementation for global and distributed environments” he proposes a new model and architecture for SIEM implementation that is using multiple hierarchical SIEM Systems. Part of the investigations in this thesis resulted in research paper published at the International Conference on Computer Information Systems (ICCIS) WCCAIS 2014 in Tunisia. After his graduation in 2011 he worked in several IT companies in Macedonia mostly as .NET and T-SQL Developer. He was also responsible for the Information Security Management System in a bank in Macedonia in the period between 2012 and 2014.
Sabin Bajracharya received his Bachelor degree as Bachelor in Information Management (BIM) from the leading university in Nepal, Tribhuwan University. After his graduation he completed his Master of Science in Information Technology (MSC-IT) from Sikkim Manipal University, Sikkim, India in 2012. After his graduation he worked as a Lecturer of Computer Science and Information Technology. He also worked as a System Analyst and System Developer in few software companies in Nepal. He then came to the Netherlands to pursue a managerial course and joined Wittenborg University of Applied Sciences in Apeldoorn. He is interested in application development and data analysis as well as embedded systems.
Ngoc Linh Bui received her Bachelor's degree from Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam in 2008 in Software Engineering. She then worked for more than one year as a C developer for Toshiba Co.,Ltd, mainly focused on creating the GUI for Toshiba DVD Recorders system. Getting DAAD scholarship for the Master's degree in Software System Engineering, she travelled to Thailand (King Mongkut University) and then Germany (RWTH Aachen University) to finish her degree in 2012. She played the role of a Senior Database Developer for Harvey Nash Vietnam Co.Ltd from 2012-2015, where she was involved in Database development for Alliance Bernstein - a global asset management firm. She is interested in Database Design and Software Architecture.
Flavius Butnariu received both his BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Science from Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca. The goal of his MSc thesis project was to identify geographic areas in Romania where similar air temperature values were recorded by using density-based clustering of spatio-temporal data. He also graduated with a MSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology. His thesis project was set in the context of data exchange and examined the construction of a particular type of data examples known as universal examples for classes of schema mappings with a finite semantic description.
Vera Chembay graduated in 2012 from the Mechanics and Mathematics department of the Novosibirsk State University, Russia, with a specialization of computational methods in geophysics. She worked as a mobile application developer for 1.5 years during her Master program. She has several android application published on Google Play. After graduation, she worked in a bank software company "Sberbank Technologies" as a Java Enterprise developer. She participated in developing web application for financial management of small business.
Sodkhuu Dalaikhuu received his Electronic Systems Engineering and Information Technology’s double degree at the School of ICT of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in June 2014. During his study period he participated in a number of local and international robotic contests and student research conferences successfully. His final thesis project was in the field of speech recognition and was titled “Research of mel-frequency cepstral coefficients”. During his final year as a student he started working as a researcher at the School of ICT and as an embedded systems developer for a start-up company Ametros Solutions LLC. After his graduation he worked there until becoming a PDEng trainee. His main interests include Internet of Things, embedded systems and software architecture.
Jonce Dimov received his Software Engineer’s degree in September 2012 at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering from the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje in Macedonia. His final project entitled “Unobtrusive Automated Sleep Stage Classification" was carried out in Philips Research in Eindhoven. After that he did a PhD in Machine Learning for 2 years at Radboud University in Nijmegen within the project "Machine Learning in Action: Mining the Netherlands Brain Bank". After the PhD he worked as a software developer for a Croatian company called Corvus for 1 year.
Chris Hoedemakers received his BSc in Industrial Design as well as his MSc in Computer Science & Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology. His Master studies focused on algorithms and visualization. The final MSc research project entitled “Geometric Spanner Networks” was performed at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. This project brought forth a new and simple method for constructing sparse, yet well connected networks.
Panagiotis Kotsis received his Diploma in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the Polytechnic department of the University of Patras (Greece) in 2015. During his studies he focused on Software Engineering and Data mining. His diploma thesis titled “Time series and stream data mining through lag correlation” was assigned by the Multidimensional Data Analysis and Knowledge Management Laboratory. The aim of his thesis was to research, implement and improve some properly designed data mining techniques for computing lag correlation between multiple time sequences. He was also part of the CLOUD@ team, which purpose was to establish the Cloud Technology at his department’s network. CEID
Colin Lambrechts was born in Eindhoven and finished both his BSc and MSc degree at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. His Master thesis was in the field of Algorithms at the Algorithms group of the M&CS department (at TU/e). His Master thesis was a balance between theory and practice. Together with his supervisor he developed, implemented and tested a new algorithm to compute the number of points visible on a elevation profile for all points in one go. The balance between theory and practice is something he strives for using theoretical solutions in practical settings to solve relevant problems.
Ivan Mikovski received his MSc degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering (2011) from Complutense University of Madrid. He worked as junior developer for a Spanish software consulting company while he finished his degree. After his graduation he worked as analyst - senior software engineer for a Spanish company specialized in tourism services.
Mia Petković gained her Software Engineering Diploma (2015) from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering of the University of Niš, Serbia. Her Master thesis was in the field of text classification and machine learning. The objective of the thesis was analysis and improvement of different feature reduction techniques applied to several machine learning algorithms for solving the problem of the text classification of the news. During her studies she worked for two years as software developer and quality assurance engineer on the practice management systems for vetereniarians at the VetCloud start up, that was evaluated as the most promising start up at the EBAN Congress 2014 in Ireland. She also gained experience as quality assurance engineer in the company youngculture, where she worked on the project Ex Libris – the largest Swiss online shop.
Konstantinos Raptis received his diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2015. During his studies he focused on Software Technology and Computer Science. He is also interested in Game Theory and he has won many poker and sports betting competitions. His diploma thesis is titled “Real-time Online Betting Analysis – The THMMY Case-Study.” In his thesis he created an interactive Ruby on Rails betting platform with a MySQL database that encompasses a sophisticated algorithm for real-time betting analysis on the dynamic calculation of profit margins and he invited the students to bet on what they think that the average grade in a course would be.
Epameinondas Rontogiannis received his diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras (Greece) in 2015. During his studies he specialized in Digital Signal and Image Processing and he supported the laboratory courses of Digital Signal Processing (I & II) as a Teaching Assistant. His diploma thesis was about obtaining super resolution of thermal images using compressed sensing methods. As a student he was a Microsoft Student Partner for several years and he led and co-founded the first and biggest offline student community in Greece (called StudentGuru Patras) delivering more than 10 technical events per year (focusing on Microsoft’s Technologies) with more than 150 attendees each. From 2012 he was an external partner of Greek Yellow Pages S.A. (offering the most complete business directory in Greece) working on the development of the company's mobile app for Windows devices.
Fariba Safari received her Bachelor degree in Information Technology Engineering from Sheikh Baha’i University of Isfahan, Iran in 2010. She followed her studies in IT Management with the focus on advanced information systems at the University of Tarbiat Modares, Tehran, Iran from 2011-2013. She wrote her Master thesis on “Factors affecting the Adoption of Cloud-based Systems in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises” and developed a decision support system for assisting SMEs in their decision of moving to the cloud. After graduation she worked as a research assistant at the University of Tarbiat Modares by conducting research in the area of Business Intelligence.
Jie Wang received her Bachelor degree of Computer Science from Zhengzhou University in 2007. In 2011 she received her Master degree of Computer Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. During her master study she mainly focused on the research of video transcoding and communication. Her Master thesis, “Transrating-Assisted Spatial Resolution Conversion Methods for Compressed Videos (TRAC)” was finished in the Multimedia Laboratory. After graduation she worked as a software engineer at Tencent in China and her work focused on improving video communication quality and user experience. Then she worked as a project manager in the same team for half a year. She is very interested in multimedia stream processing and communication.
Yinghui Wu completed her Bachelor in Software Engineering at Xiamen University. After that she was recommended to a Master’s program in Software Engineering at Peking University and received her Master’s degree in 2012. Her Master thesis entitled "Research on Workflow Model Suitable for Localization Engineering Business” was to discriminate the most appropriate workflow models that can be used to describe l10n engineering business. After she graduated she worked for about 3 years as a Localization Engineer at Nokia (Beijing). She participated in the development and maintenance of Nokia S30 and Asha products. Furthermore, as a technical leader, she was in charge of the overall localization process of Nokia X series with technical and managerial tasks.
