Introduction days for new TU/e employees and for their spouses
TU/e frequently organizes English spoken ‘central introduction days’. These introduction days are especially designed for the university's new international employees, and also for their spouses/partners.
We warmly invite you and your spouse to participate in one of these days.The two of you can participate together, but your spouse/partner can also participate independently, for instance if (s)he joins you later.
Also, if you work with one of the institutes on campus (like FOM, ICMS, ILI) we kindly invite you to attend one of these days.
Dates and times
The TU/e introduction days take place on Fridays, from 8.30 am till roughly 6 pm.
The next editions are scheduled for:
October 27th 2017
December 1st 2017
Below you can find more information about these introduction days. For instance: why we organize them and what the program of the day is all about.
And at the bottom of this page you can find a link to a small form that you can use to register for one of the days.
Objectives of the day
We organize these introduction days with several objectives in mind:
- to extend a word of welcome to you;
- to provide you with information about TU/e, Eindhoven and The Netherlands;
- to explore some basics of 'the' Dutch culture with you;
- to help you and your partner get to know other new colleagues at TU/e;
- to introduce you to a place in the Eindhoven city center where you can meet other internationals.
About the program
During these introduction days different speakers will provide you with information about:
- the university
- the city of Eindhoven
- The Netherlands
We will take you on a campus tour with visits to the TU/e sports center, the library and the language center.
During lunch, we will be joined by representatives of the TU/e network of international accompanying spouses.
They are there to welcome your spouse/partner, to answer questions that
(s)he may have and to inform them about the special program that the university invites them to.
Workshop on cultural differences
During the afternoon workshop you can explore your own cultural values and compare those with 'the' dutch ones.
Drinks and snacks at 'The Hub'
At the end of the day we will take you to the 'Hub Eindhoven for Expats'. This is a meeting place and activity center for the Eindhoven international community, located some 10 minutes walk from TU/e.
We will gladly offer you some drinks and snacks at the Hub's weekly Friday afternoon gathering. This will provide you with an opportunity to get to know the Hub and to meet other Eindhoven based internationals and their Dutch friends.
Registration TU/e introduction day
Approximately one week before the introduction day you enrolled for, we will send you a reminder, the programme of the day, and the list of participants.
