The TU/e is shocked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and sympathize with all who are affected. In order to help students and employees who are in financial difficulties as a result of the war in Ukraine, an emergency support fund has been created. The university also offers support for the mental consequences of the war through a central contact point and several actions have already been set up by students and employees to support people in Ukraine.

With the emergency fund the TU/e offers financial help for students with a Ukrainian, Belarussian or Russian (double) nationality who are directly affected by the war in Ukraine. Now that, for example, credit balances are no longer accessible or money cannot be received from relatives, students can be helped with their basic necessities with this emergency fund.

Furthermore, the Eindhoven University Fund has set up a fund of 100,000 Euros consisting of donations from former students. In consultation with Ukrainian scientists and students at the TU/e it will be examined how this amount can best be spent.

Strong community

The university is also aware of the mental effects of the war. For anyone who feels the need to talk about the situation or needs help, a central contact point has been set up via the e-mail address info@tue.nl. A special team of students answers questions and looks at what help or guidance is needed. Work is also underway to create a place where students and employees can come together, share stories and support each other.

The TU/e Executive Board expresses its gratitude to everyone who has offered help, started an action or simply reached out to a friend or colleague to hear how things are going. "We have no influence on how the war continues, but we do have a strong community around us. Take care of each other and reach out to each other so that anyone who needs it feels supported."
