TU/e supports national fundraiser for Ukraine with gift of 20,000 euros

March 7, 2022

We call on everyone the help us double that amount to 40,000 euros (or more!).

Today the Netherlands is coming together in a national fundraising campaign for Ukraine. TU/e is happy to participate in this charity event, which is meant to support the people of Ukraine and the many refugees in neighboring countries. The TU/e board is committing one euro for every student and employee of TU/e to Giro555, making a total contribution of 20,000 euros. We call on everyone inside and outside the university community to make a generous contribution as well. The Ukrainian people need our help right now!

Update Tuesday, March 8, 2022: The target amount of 40,000 euros has now been reached! This more than doubles the university's contribution. We would like to thank everyone for their generous gifts. Have you not yet given? The campaign will be running till the end of the week, so don't hesitate and make a donation!

Especially for this purpose, we have launched a TU/e Giro555 fundraising page where you can deposit your contribution and follow the current status. Every donation is welcome!

Last week, TU/e already announced that there will be a special emergency fund for students and employees from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus who are facing financial difficulties as a result of the war in Ukraine. The university also offers support through a central contact point for the mental consequences of the war and several actions have already been set up by students and staff to support people in Ukraine.

Radio and TV

The national fundraising campaign Together in Action for Ukraine can be followed all day on Dutch radio and TV. The NPO, RTL and SBS6 are broadcasting a television program in the evening between 20.30 and 23.00 hours. Ten radio stations, including NPO Radio 2, NPO 3FM and Qmusic, will be broadcasting a special radio program (Radio555) throughout the day.
