Expanded Read Access and Open Access publishing in Elsevier journals under new Universities of The Netherlands agreement

May 19, 2020

Universities of The Netherlands and Elsevier have negotiated a new agreement on read access and Open Access publishing rights to Elsevier’s journals.

With this new contract the TU/e community gets access to more journals and TU/e affiliated corresponding authors get publishing options in the majority of Elsevier's journals, allowing 95% of publications submitted by a TU/e corresponding author in Elsevier journals to be made Open Access. The agreement is valid up to and including 31 December 2024.

In 2019 more than 60% of TU/e publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals were available in Open Access. With this expanded Elsevier agreement, we expect to achieve between 75-80% Open Access publications in 2020.
