Minister Robbert Dijkgraaf has reappointed Mariëtte Hamer as a member of the TU/e Supervisory Board. Her second term runs through September 2026. The former PvdA politician joined the Supervisory Board in 2018. She was until recently chairman of the Social and Economic Council (SER), and was appointed in April as independent government commissioner on sexual transgressive behavior and sexual violence.

"We are delighted that Mariëtte Hamer will serve a second term," said Peter Wennink, chairman of the TU/e Supervisory Board. "Her administrative knowledge and experience and her network in The Hague are of great value to the university. We very much need those qualities in helping the university achieve its growth ambition."

"We are very satisfied with the cooperation with Mariëtte Hamer," said Robert-Jan Smits, President of the TU/e Executive Board. "She is strong in her analyses and communication, and has great binding force. We are therefore very pleased to have her as a member of the Supervisory Board for another four years. With the challenges we see ahead, we will benefit enormously from the knowledge and expertise she brings."

Martijn Klabbers, chairman of the TU/e University Council's Committee on Confidentiality, is also pleased that Hamer is doing a second term. She is the Supervisory Board contact person for the University Council. Klabbers: "The cooperation with Mariëtte Hamer is very good and pleasant. Even in difficult periods, such as during Corona. Moreover, in her new role as government commissioner, she brings important expertise in the field of social safety. This is something the university is already strongly committed to, which is important as a healthy foundation in the context of the growth ambition."
