The four Dutch universities of technology – Eindhoven University of Technology, Delft University of Technology, University of Twente and Wageningen University & Research – want to boost their significance for the Dutch knowledge economy through cooperation. This cooperation within the 4TU.Federation generates more expertise, resources and international top talent as well as an improved focus in education and research. The four universities, each with its own excellent reputation, are thus taking on competition from abroad.
University of Utrecht
TU/e recently entered into a strategic alliance with the University of Utrecht and the UMC Utrecht. They will be strengthening ties in research, education and knowledge valorization as well as extending those fields in which the partners complement each other. The focus in the cooperation lies in renewable energy, medical imaging, stem cells and regenerative medicine. The partners invest jointly in research, realize the appointment of more and more part-time professors, and offer all their students access to their range of educational programs.
Radboud University Nijmegen
TU/e cooperates with Radboud University Nijmegen on a variety of research fields like organic chemistry. New possibilities are investigated in the areas of neuro-imaging, sport and technology, and wireless technology for astronomy.
University of Maastricht
TU/e has traditional ties with the University of Maastricht, as in the Biomedical Engineering Department’s programs that are jointly run with the University of Maastricht and the university hospital Maastricht. The engineering subjects are taught by TU/e staff while the biological and medical knowledge comes from Maastricht.
