The Art Commission began acquiring photography as a specific art form from 2011 onwards. This was not just to meet a demand from borrowers, but also in view of the increasing public interest in photography in recent years.
TU/e's line of collecting is directed at autonomous photography, not at portrait, documentary or journalistic photography. The aim is to build up a photography collection that combines logically with the art collection as a whole.
Nevertheless, the TU/e photography collection covers a broad scope, including both realistic and staged photography, manipulated and non-manipulated photography as well as all further variations. Photographers whose works feature in the TU/e collection include Wijnanda Deroo, Mischa Keijser, Sofie Knijff and Ilse Schrama. Click here to view a selection.
