Teacher story

“Students love the flexibility of streaming”

George Fletcher, teacher

“We had too many students to fit into one room. One of the solutions was a livestream that students could watch from anywhere. We used the chat functionality in our online learning management system for students to ask questions and participate in real time. We also reserved the room next door, which some students even preferred, since it was quieter.”

“Streaming didn’t change my teaching much. I just had to be mindful that other people were watching – there was a screen in my room that showed the students in the other room, and I had to remember to engage them too. My students were very enthusiastic, but also liked that there still was a face-to-face lecture.”

Tips and tricks

“Think about how to keep the students who are not in the room engaged. And ask a student assistant to monitor the chat service and repeat all questions out loud.”
