Doctorate regulations 2015
THESE REGULATIONS ARE ONLY APPLICABLE WHEN YOU HANDED IN FORM 1 BEFORE 1 SEPTEMBER 2017.
The Doctorate Board has decided to amend the regulations governing the conferral of doctor’s degrees as of 1 September 2015.
The permission to take a doctor’s degree will be valid for a period of 5 years as of 1 September 2015 (Article 5, paragraph 1).
Article 13, paragraph 1, about the sending of the text of the dissertation or the documentation of the technological design tot the members of the Doctorate Committee, after permission to take a doctor’s degree is granted, now states explicitly that this happens with the approval of the supervisor(s) and, if applicable, co-supervisors.
In the same paragraph it is stated that the doctoral candidate signs a declaration that the research or design described in the dissertation has been carried out in accordance with the TU/e Code of Scientific Conduct.
In Article 15, paragraphs 1 and 3, it explicitly is stated that the candidate must have made an essential contribution to the research described in the dissertation or technological design, respectively to the separate scientific treatises or constituent designs.
In the Commentary on the regulations (and in the information brochure ‘Information for Doctoral candidates’ it is now stated that every doctoral candidate is obligated to give 2 hard copies of the dissertation and a digital version to the library.
This digital version will be placed open access in the TU/e Repository. The doctoral candidate has to give his permission for this by signing a form.
A temporary embargo is, in specific cases, possible, but only with the beforehand permission of the dean of the relevant department.
