FameLab is an international science communication competition for young scientist

Which young TU/e scientist will participate in FameLaB?

TU/e will be participating in FameLab for the first time in 2019. This is an international science communication competition organized in 31 countries. A total of eight universities in the Netherlands will participate next year. The aim of the competition is to offer an international platform to young researchers who can use it to inspire and stimulate a large audience. This exciting battle between young scientists leads to a grand finale during the Cheltenham Science Festival. FameLab is an initiative of the British Council and is supported by the KNAW and VSNU.

Are you a young TU/e scientist, aged between 21 and 40, and do you think it would be great to tell a large (international) audience about your research or a scientific subject? Sign up for FameLab! Important conditions are that your pitch may last up to three minutes, you may only use an object that you can wear yourself and that your story is in English.

On 12 March 2019, the TU/e FameLab preliminary round will take place. The closing date for registration is 8 February 2019. A jury will evaluate all registered candidates and will select a maximum of sixteen participants who may enter. In the week of 18 - 23 February, the selected participants will be offered professional pitch training in preparation for the pitch evening.
During the TU/e preliminary round, the participants will pitch their stories and the jury will choose two winners who will go on to the national final of FameLab in Tivoli Vredenburg on Thursday 9 May 2019. Winners of the national finals will advance to the international finals in June at the Cheltenham Science Festival. They will also receive a two-day master class at the KNAW, organized by the British Council.
Can you tell interesting stories about science and would you like to represent TU/e?
