Working at

Eindhoven University of Technology is situated in the heart of Europe's leading innovative top technology region Brainport in the South-East of the Netherlands. We are an ambitious, innovative and fast growing university combining leading-edge scientific research with attention to professional development and personal growth.

The department of Applied Physics and Science Education at TU/e educates Bachelor and Master of Science students (BSc/MSc), PDEng (Professional Doctors in Engineering) and PhD students. In addition to this, we carry out cutting-edge research in many domains of Electrical Engineering. Much research is done in close cooperation with large high-tech companies, such as Philips, ASML, NXP, as well as many small/medium enterprises.

The department aims to maintain and extend its international forefront position, and strives for strong international cooperation. We offer a challenging and inspiring atmosphere, where we work together to solve socially relevant problems.

The Principal Investigator Model (PI) Model

We want to stimulate independence in our own people and attract academic top talent who value independence and its related responsibilities. Therefore, we are moving to a department structure where the voice of each researcher and educator is well heard. Each Principal Investigator (PI) defines her/his own agenda. More senior people are not the 'boss' of junior people but are coaches and stimulators for an optimal academic career, in education, research, societal impact and leadership.

At the same time, we will keep the structure of capacity groups, where a group of PI’s with related research areas, can stimulate each other and organize optimal use of resources.
