Prizes from American Chemical Society for Bert Meijer and Bas van Genabeek

We received news that, on behalf of the ACS Division of Polymeric Materials: Science & Engineering (PMSE) and the Chemical Marketing & Economics Topical Group of the American Chemical Society’s New York Section (CME), Bas van Genabeek (SMO, Group Meijer) has been selected to receive the inaugural ACS Global Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Polymer Science and Engineering.

His PhD advisor, Professor Meijer, will receive the inaugural ACS Global Outstanding Mentor Award in Polymer Science and Engineering to acknowledge the dedication and commitment he made to mentor graduate students in this promising field.

Bas van Genabeek and Professor Meijer will each receive a commemorative plaque. The Student Award carries an additional cash prize of $2000 that will be presented to him at the award presentation.

The award will be presented at the Student & Mentor Awards Session during the exciting Third ACS NASA Symposium “Chemistry for Humanity’s Next Giant Leap” to be held on April 1-2, 2019 in Orlando. This prominent symposium will include a separate awards session titled CME Lectures that features two Nobel Laureates in Chemistry: Dr. Eric Betzig (2014), and Dr. Frances Arnold (2018). The award-winning ACS NASA Symposium is organized by CME, sponsored by MPPG and co-sponsored by PMSE and 20 other ACS Technical Divisions.

On behalf of the TU/e we congratulate them with these awards.
