Gaslab

Opening hours with access pass:: Mon-Fri 8:00-23:00

The Gaslab was the home of the Eindhoven AI Systems Institute (EAISI) and the student teams FruitPunch AI, HART and Serpentine AI until February 2023 when they all moved to the newly renovated Neuron building (previously the LaPlace building).

It emanates a sense of industrial history due to the open ductwork, pipes, switches and handles which gives it a unique look and feel.

It is a very light working area with floor to ceiling glass on three sides.

The closest parking is P12, accessible via the prof.dr. Dorgelolaan on the southside of the campus.

The entresol contains the pantry and gives access to the first floor area.

The Gaslab was built in 1959 as a Gas laboratory, designed by ir. S.J. van Embden for prof.dr.ir W. van Loon of Chemical Engineering. This function is still visible as many handles and switches were (luckily) never removed.

In 2002 it was converted to a (music) theater by ir. J. Swagten. Many famous artists have performed here, organized by Studium Generale. Artists such as Jules Deelder, Theo Maassen and Herman Brood.

In 2017 the Gaslab became home of the innovation Space that had just been set up. In 2019 it became the home of EAISI and the student teams.
