Winners TU/e Science Awards

As of 2022, TU/e honors its scientists with the TU/e Science Awards. With these awards, we celebrate scientists in different categories:
- Young researcher
- Groundbreaking research
- Leadership in excellence
In 2023, 3 more awards were added:
- Best Team Science performance
- Best EngD thesis (formerly Academic Awards)
- Best PhD thesis (formerly Academic Awards)
The TU/e Science Awards are announced at the TU/e Research Day
Winners of 2023
Young researcher
"My research on preventive health and video games contributes to interventions, cognitive assessment, and understanding game impact. I pioneer engagement methods, develop stress prediction biomarkers, and investigate behavioural design patterns for public health policy"
Groundbreaking researcher
"Our research focuses on organic electronic materials to achieve smart adaptive biointerfaces, as well as locally trainable neuromorphic computing systems for efficient hardware-based machine learning and intelligent sensors. We aim to develop systems that can be used for safe point-of-care and smart health devices, and facilitate the crucial step towards energy-efficient artificial intelligence"
Leadership in Excellence
Combines synthetic chemistry, chemical biology and supramolecular chemistry to address relevant biomedical challenges
Best Team Science
The Iron Power consortium focuses on the use of iron powder as an energy carrier. Research at TU/e is focused on the combustion properties of iron powder as well as the regeneration of combusted iron powder with hydrogen.
Best EngD thesis
"I believe that artificial intelligence, in close collaboration with the medical professional, will improve patient outcomes and reduce workload in healthcare"
Best PhD thesis
"The combination of photonics and spintronics offers exciting possibilities for the data processing devices of the future" .
Winners of 2022
Young researcher
"I’m working on applying AI in next-generation imaging for imaging systems (such as MRI, ultrasound and radar) that intelligently observe the world around them and respond to it to gather important information. For medical applications, this information could be diagnosis-related; for automotive radar, it’s all about safety"
Groundbreaking researcher
"My group does research in the field of living technology, or technological products produced by or composed of living cells. We build cellular systems with non-natural components so that they can perform tasks that their all-natural counterparts cannot"
Leadership in excellence
She studies how people stay motivated at work."I do research on work characteristics, such as people’s well-being and functioning in their work. I apply this subject to improve how employees adapt to (technological) changes. s how people stay motivated at work.
