Energizing Day 2022

Join us for an energizing day of talks, discussions, and networking.

Energizing Day 2022 | 01 July

This summer, EIRES - Eindhoven Institute for Renewable Energy Systems will celebrate its second birthday. Time to reflect on what has been achieved to date and to explore how TU/e can further play its part in realizing the energy transition.

On Friday 01 July the EIRES Energizing day took place, a very inspiring and energizing day of talks, discussions, and networking.

VENUE:
Disruptor building @ TU/e campus (building nr. 74 on map)
Visiting address: De Horsten 1, Eindhoven

Energizing encounters

‘Two years after EIRES came into being, we are very glad to finally be able to organize a live event where our entire community can meet.’ With these words, EIRES’ managing director Mark Boneschanscher welcomed some 175 participants to the first EIRES Energizing Day on Friday 01 July 2022.

Welcome & Introductions

Marking our second birthday, we briefly looked back on what was achieved so far. But mainly we looked ahead: placing our local efforts on the energy transition into a global context.

Update EIRES focus areas by principal scientists

We listened to principal scientists of the four EIRES focus areas.

Evolution and growth | What happened within the four focus areas over the institute’s first years, and what are they going to work on next?
Read the interview with Adriana Creatore, Silvia Gaastra-Nedea, Guus Pemen and John van der Schaaf.

Keynote speakers

We got energized by our four keynote speakers. They provided an overview of exciting developments in energy research, ranging from sustainable chemistry and the technology of hydrogen production to heat storage and energy systems modeling.

MEET OUR SPEAKERS

Roundtable

All participants joined a discussion with our panel members from politics, industry, startups and academia on how we can speed up the energy transition.

Barry W. Fitzgerald | Roundtable host, TU/e

Exhibition floor

We all got enthused by the work and ambitions of EIRES partners, student teams, PhD students and  postdocs during the poster presentations and demonstrations held at the exhibition floor.

Drinks & networking

After having spent too long a time alone behind our individual laptops, videoconferencing all day long, we finally could meet the EIRES community in person and exchange ideas, insights and the so missed social talk over drinks.
