John van Weerdenburg’s paper highly recognized during Optical Fiber Communications conference 2018 in San Diego USA

PhD student John van Weerdenburg of the Electro-Optical Communications group was listed as a finalist for the Corning Outstanding Student Paper Competition at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference 2018. With his paper entitled ‘Mode-Multiplexed 16-QAM Transmission over 2400-km Large-Effective-Area Depressed-Cladding 3-Mode Fiber’ he managed to position 4th out of 220 PhD students. Van Weerdenburg wrote this paper in collaboration with Nokia Bell labs in New Jersey U.S.A. This achievement demonstrates the world leading activities of our students in the Photonics field.
