7S810 - Computational modeling for building physics and systems

Modeling, simulation, state-space, input, output, parameters, non linear differential equations, verification, analytical solution, validation, limitations of models. MatLab/SimuLink is used as modeling and simulation tool.

Learning objectives

In this course, students learn how to build, simulate and evaluate computational models in the area of building physics and systems.

After the course, students have knowledge on: modeling, simulation, state-space, input, output, parameters, non linear differential equations, partial differential equations (PDEs), verification, analytical solution, validation, limitations of models

Furthermore, the students gain experience for:

  • developing of equation based models,
  • simulating of models in MatLab/SimuLink,
  • critically evaluating the simulation results.

The students learn to apply:

  • equation based models and simulation tools in the area of building physics and systems,
  • knowledge in the area of building physics and systems.

Finally, the students are able to apply these methods and techniques independently by a case study.
