e/MTIC - Large-scale research collaboration

e/MTIC is a large-scale research collaboration between the Catharina Hospital, Maxima Medical Center, Kempenhaeghe Epilepsy and Sleep Center, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and Philips Research Eindhoven. We drive value-based healthcare by growing an ecosystem that creates a fast track in research, development, and implementation of sustainable innovations in clinical practice. The cross-appointments, i.e. people with a main appointment with one of the e/MTIC partners and a part-time appointment with another partner, are very important for the success of the e/MTIC collaboration. They help to blur the borderline between partners and ensure a smooth collaboration across organisational boundaries. This is a key prerequisite for a fast track to clinical innovation.

Within the e/MTIC ecosystem, physicians advise Philips and are a part-time professor at the university. Also, Philips employees are part-time professor or advisor at the TU/e and furthermore a TU/e-employee can also work at Philips or one of the hospitals.

Up till now a backbone of 61 cross-appointments at levels ranging from junior to senior ensures that all partners are continuously well aligned.
