The International Symposium on Liquid Crystal Photonics, also known as SLCP, provides a well-developed international platform for interdisciplinary exchange of information and insight into latest results of research and development in liquid crystal photonics. The 8th SLCP (2019) will be organized by the Liquid Crystal Branch of the Chinese Physical Society and jointly organized by South China Normal University and Shenzhen Guohua Optoelectronic Tech. Co., Ltd. The SLCP is an annual series of meetings, and has been held in previous years in Guilin by Nanjing University (2012), Chengdu by Sichuan University (2013), Shanghai by Shanghai Jiaotong University (2014), Shenzhen by Southern University of Science and Technology (2015), Beijing by Peking University (2016), Tianjin by Hebei University of Technology (2017) and Nanjing by Nanjing University (2018). The conference has a strong international character, with speaks from both China and abroad. This year, the sessions will focus on topics such as molecular design, synthesis and alignment technologies, liquid crystal displays devices, photonic devices, alignment materials and technologies, smart windows, light-responsive and active liquid crystals, sensors, and liquid crystal polymers, gels and soft robotics.
