Mass evolution: application to pedestrians - Joep Evers

We study the behaviour of groups of pedestrians; a field of research called crowd dynamics. Macroscopic effects arise from the microscopic, social interactions between individuals. In this talk I introduce and discuss the kind of models I use. I will focus on one of the ingredients that make these models different from systems of non-living particles: Mutual interactions are anisotropic since they are vision-based and thus direction-dependent.
