The Intelligent Lighting Institute is for valorization supported by the TU/e Innovation Lab. Together with the researchers the possibility of valorization of knowledge for community and economy by means of spin-off companies is explored. Business professionals with a vast business network, supported with the right finance instruments, exploit the generated ideas in a business manner.

An example is the spin-off Aesthetic Interactions. This company created several innovative lighting technologies, and built an IP portfolio in the area of touch based lighting interaction. Its main product Fonckel One reached the consumer and professional market in 12 countries. After Aesthetic Interactions stopped its activities, another Eindhoven based company has taken over the Intellectual Property to further commercialize it.
