ERC & Marie Curie

European Research Council

European Research Council (ERC) grants support talented researchers of any nationality and age who wish to pursue their frontier research. The ERC encourages in particular pioneering ideas that address new and emerging fields and applications that introduce unconventional, innovative approaches. There are three types of personal ERC Grants: Starting Grants, Consolidator Grants and Advanced Grants. ERC also offers an opportunity for collaboration between Principal Investigators in the Synergy Grant scheme.

  • Starting Grants
These grants are for researchers with 2-7 years of experience since the completion of their PhD, a scientific track record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal.
  • Consolidator Grants
These grants are for researchers with 7-12 years of experience since completion of PhD, a scientific track record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal.
  • Advanced Grants
These grants are for active researchers with a track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years.

Marie Curie

The objective of Postdoctoral Fellowships (PFs) is to support researchers’ careers and foster excellence in research. The Postdoctoral Fellowships action targets researchers holding a PhD who wish to carry out their research activities abroad, acquire new skills and develop their careers. PFs help researchers gain experience in other countries, disciplines and non-academic sectors. There are two types of Individual Fellowships: European Fellowship and Global Fellowship.
