NWO offers two types of Personal Grants

  • Rubicon
  • The Innovational Research Incentives Scheme (Vernieuwingsimpuls)

Rubicon

International research experience is often essential for building up one’s scientific career. Also for an individual grant, a stay abroad at a renowned knowledge institute is very important. Rubicon aims to encourage talented researchers at Dutch universities to dedicate themselves to a career in postdoctoral research. Rubicon offers talented researchers who have completed their doctorates in the past year the chance to gain experience at a top research institution outside the Netherlands, as international research experience is likely to be an advantage at a later stage in the applicant's academic career.

When you want to apply or when you have general questions regarding your eligibility, success rates, internal procedures. Please contact Laura Pander, Karoline Duijvesz or Maartje Koppelman through personalgrants@tue.nl.

NWO Talent Programme

This talent scheme provides personal grants for talented, creative researchers who engage in innovative research, and are in the top 10-20% of their peer group. The grant enables them to conduct the research of their choice. The Talent Scheme has three funding instruments tailored to various phases in researchers' scientific careers:

  • Veni
Veni allows researchers who have recently obtained their PhD to conduct independent research and develop their ideas for a period of three years.
  • Vidi
Vidi is for researchers who have carried out several years of postdoctoral research after their Phd and have demonstrated the ability to independently generate and effect innovative ideas.
  • Vici
Vici is for senior researchers who have demonstrated an ability to develop their own line of research.
