RESEARCH PROFILE
As a Doctoral candidate in the Photonics and Semiconductor Nanophysics (PSN) Group at Eindhoven university of Technology (TU/e), Anne van Klinken is working in Nanophotonics. This field is investigating the emission, detection and interaction of light with structures patterned on the nanometer scale. In her research, Anne is investigating a new approach to integrated spectral sensing - bringing the functionality of bulky laboratory spectrometers to a millimeter-sized silicon chip. Operating in the near-infrared range (NIR), the spectral sensor can be used to analyze material properties in a fast, non-destructive and reliable manner.
I dream of a spectral sensor in every smartphone, which brings food safety and quality control to the consumer level.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Anne van Klinken obtained her Bachelor degree in Physics from the Humboldt-University Berlin in 2016. For her Master studies, she moved to the Netherlands and joined the Photonics and Semiconductor Nanophysics (PSN) Group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) for her final research project supervised by prof. Andrea Fiore. Anne obtained her Master degree in Applied Physics in 2019. As a Doctoral candidate in the same group, her reserach is now focussed on integrated spectral sensors in the near-infrared range.
