Bram van Kaathoven
Bram van Kaathoven is a researcher at the chair of Rational Architecture and the design based research group Bauhütte, which conducts design based research in urban design and architecture. The aim of his work is to pursue architectural- and historical continuity, based on a scientific, and in the tradition of the profession rooted, architectural innovation. Innovation in architecture is never to be introduced "without conditions" but measures itself to the degree to which it is able to create new and meaningful relations with the existing. Therefore, the perspective is always focused on the long term.
Bram van Kaathoven studied Architecture at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). During his study he was affiliated with the chair of Rational Architecture and the design based research group Bauhütte (Eindhoven) as a student-assistant. In 2015 he graduated with honours with a graduation project situated in Turin (Italy). He has worked at Rapp+Rapp architects (Amsterdam) and recently obtained a position at TU/e as a researcher for the chair of Rational Architecture and Bauhütte. In 2018 Bram van Kaathoven was nominated for the Prix the Rome, the oldest and most generous prize for talented artists and architects in the Netherlands.
